Skúlin við Løkin - Public School at Runavík
When the municipality of Runavík in 2005 decided to build a new public school to replace the old one it was agreed upon that it should be made of sustainable materials with a low maintanance cost and it was also stressed upon that the new school should be state of the art one and to become a pride for Runavik and to become a significant part of the cultural events at Runavík.
Articon, in fierce competition with Phil and MT Højgaard, was the successfull tenderer and the partnering agreement was signed 9th March 2006 and the formal contract signed 30th August same year.
The work started 2nd October 2006 and the finished school formally handed to the Municipality of Runavík on the 13th December 2008. Articon was responsible for the entire project as well as the project planning.
The school has 18 normal class rooms and a total area of 5.000 m2. There are also a number of special class rooms for handicrafting, chemistry, music etc. Great care has been taken to provide the teachers with good and satisfactory working conditions and also the cantene and toilets are of high standard. The school has a concert hall and with the other facilities at the school it has become the intended cultural focal point of Runavik.
The Mayor of Runavik Magnus Rasmussen states :
“The building price and building time contained in the contract were fully honoured by Articon.
